I know some people Anthony should go talk to if he wants to make a durian forest--a farm that I knew when I lived in Puna grows a bunch of varieties, and there are other knowledgable folks around. Loved your talk about food forests--I loved living in CA and HI, and miss that element up here in AK (although we have a pretty good garden).

I was bouncing on my rebounder about half the time I was listening--any recommendations on a good brand? Mine's a cheapie and I've had to mend it twice already. Just starting to really step up the exercise (coming out of chronic fatigue and all kinds of hormone stuff) and I love to hear all the ways you move.

Also: I'm _so glad_ that you said what you did about sugar not being evil: there's so much demonization and scaremongering out there, so it was a great report 'from the front line.' I'm feeling so much better since I stopped being carbophobic, although I'm finding that going all the way back to my old 80-10-10 ways may not be the best thing either.

love
Ela

Re: Interview with Those Lovely SweetPeas the Lindenscchmidts!

Award for you!
http://joannasteven.blogspo...

Re: Interview with Those Lovely SweetPeas the Lindenscchmidts!

Thanks Mel, I clean up good when I am on the 'radio' hee hee.love you, and thanks for listening!xodeb

Re: Interview with Those Lovely SweetPeas the Lindenscchmidts!

Loved it! Ray peat is probably about late 60's to 70 or so. I love his young man as an artist 50's style pic, it's the only one I can find of him!
Yes, I do make kombucha and kefir, but am going off dairy for a bit. After you made me lol with your impression of Ray Peat, I'd especially love your thoughts on why he talks like that--is it a fatty acid deficiency or is he just old?
Enjoy your mead...Do you do kombucha and kefir?
love
Ela

Re: The Craft and Lore of Mead!

Hey Ela!
I have not ventured into mead yet but when I get the ebook by James I will have to try it.
Yes, I was MIA on 180, but I will be back. My issues are more with other hormones lacking, ya know, the pause as it were :).
I will look at your posts. I caught some of Mercola vs Cousens. I felt they were both full of good ideas, but Cousens is sort of confusing to me at points.
xo
deb

Re: The Craft and Lore of Mead!

Good to read you again! I was wondering where you were on 180's 'Perfect Pregnancy' (and everything else under the sun) discussion.

I made mead a lot when I lived in HI and had bees: have made it too since moving to AK but it's harder up here where it's cold. I think it'll be really easy to do where you are. Lately, I haven't been doing any alcohol, so have been making it for my husband, but he's _super picky_ about the smallest hint of vinegar taste, so several wasted batches. Rack and rack and rack again! I'll check out sweet peas ideas on it too.

I just posted to my blog about my 'cutting out PUFAs' experiment (weird as a raw-foodie but interesting) and would love your thoughts, also on the post I haven't yet written about the 'great health debate' (are you following that, btw?)
love
Ela

Re: Jack You will Be Missed, Thanks for the Memories

Wow--I had no idea that he had passed on. I was a mess...bad skin, no energy, severely depressed, aching joints, sleeping poorly, bad skin. For me, raw milk whey protein, cheese, and butter from grass-fed cows has made a huge difference. I applaud you for the decision you made.

Re: A Very Special Request: Selim G.
